Q+ utilises performance, design & visual arts

to connect queer communities

across Australia

Q+
Mission

Named for the two most inclusive symbols of the LGBTIAQ+acronym, Q+ utilises performance, visual art and architecture to highlight the experience of LGBTIAQ+ people, finding artistic solutions to the isolation and social disconnection of queer people within rural, regional & remote communities.

We also aim to support, connect and champion queer artists across a variety of mediums, Australia-wide.

Vision

Our larger vision is to connect queer communities throughout Australia, particularly those where limited opportunities may exist to associate with LGBTIAQ+ culture.

In doing so, Q+ hopes to contribute towards the growth and greater retention of LGBTIAQ+ people within rural, regional and remote areas and encourage stronger connections with metropolitan queer communities.

Who we are?

We are a group of queer professionals and artists from all walks of life.

Many of us have come from small towns where we struggled to be who we truly are. All of us have felt the pressure to cling to the nearest metropolis as a means of feeling safe, supported and connected and most have eventually missed the roots we left behind.

Some of us, who have only known queer life in big cities, long to explore regional communities that are safe and accepting, and seek the growth of regional queer communities.

About

Our mission is to utilise performance, visual art and architecture to highlight the experience of LGBTIAQ+ people in regional areas, interrogating and finding artistic solutions to the isolation and social disconnection of queer people within rural & regional communities.
