Introduction

Queer Plus (Q+) is committed to protecting your privacy. We are bound by the Privacy Act (1988 CTH) and the Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), which sets out a number of principles concerning the protection of your personal information.

This Privacy Statement explains how we use and disclose personal information which we hold about you and the privacy rights you have in relation to that information.

We encourage you to check this Privacy Statement on our website regularly, as this Privacy Statement may change from time to time.

In general, the purposes for which we collect your personal information include:

to allow you to purchase tickets or register for Q+ events.
to place you on our mailing list;
to deal with any inquiries you have about Q+ activations, programs and events;
to be able to inform you of any details about Q+;
for Q+ related surveys;
to inform you of any selected special offers made to you by our sponsors, presenters or producers.

At all times, we will take care to ensure that your personal information is protected and treated confidentially and in accordance with the Privacy Act.

Your personal information

Personal information we may collect, or which may be held by us about you, may include:

your name;
your date of birth;
your postal address;
your telephone and mobile phone number;
your email address;

We may also collect and hold information about you that is relevant to your general interest and attendance at the events we hold (including details of your attendance at events), including how you found out about Q+ and Q+ events.

How we collect your personal information

We collect personal information in a number of ways, including:

when you request information from us;
when you subscribe to our newsletters and mailing lists;
when you make a donation to us;
when you agree to take part in a survey by Q+ or a Q+ contracted survey service;
from the organisations identified below under "When we disclose your personal information";
from publicly available sources of information; and

when you otherwise provide information to us, including:

1. in writing;
2. in person;
3. by phone; or
4. from your use of our website.

How we use your personal information

We may use your personal information to:

enable you to purchase merchandise, including, where applicable, to process your credit card payment transactions (Q+ does not retain your credit card information);
enable you to register for Q+ participant or public events;
enable you to be contacted by an external presenter of an event you may be participating in;
enable you to make donations and to contact you regarding donations;
send you your tickets to events held at our venues or to send you gift vouchers;
inform you if events change, or regarding refunds, exchanges where those are permitted;
gain an understanding of your arts-related interests for research purposes, to enable us develop our business to better accommodate those interests; and
as set out below under the headings "Marketing by Q+".

When we disclose your personal information

From time to time, we may need to disclose your personal information to other organisations. Those organisations carry out:

customer enquiries about their venues at which our events may be staged (for example in the event of a cancelled performance);
distribution of tickets on our behalf.

In addition, we may disclose your personal information as permitted or required by law.

Marketing by Q+

When you provide us with your contact details, we will ask you whether you wish to receive information relating to us and to events that we think may be of interest to you. Where you agree to us doing so, we may use your personal information to provide you with information relating to us and to events that we think may be of interest to you. We may also ask you marketing questions to enable us to understand how you have heard about Q+.

If you later decide that you do not wish to receive marketing information from us, please let us know by updating your details online through our website www.quplus.com.au, or by contacting us at the address set out below under the heading "How to contact us".

Disclosure to our presenters

In the event that receive a ticket from us for an event, we will not disclose your details to any third parties, including producers or presenters without your prior permission.

Sale of tickets through third parties

Where a third party (such as an event producer) sells tickets for events held as part of Q+ events, the terms of that third party's privacy policy will apply. Those policies can usually be found on the third parties' websites.

How we deal with your personal information if you apply for a job with us

If you apply for a job with us, you may be required to provide us with certain personal information, including your name, employment and educational background, as well as other personal information which we may require you to provide, or which you choose to provide us, in relation to your job application.

We will hold, use and disclose that information solely for the purpose of considering your application. In particular, in considering your application, it may be necessary for us to disclose some of that information to third parties to verify the accuracy of that information. In such circumstances, we will disclose only such information as is necessary in the circumstances.

In considering your application, we may also collect personal information about you from any third parties that you nominate as your referees in your application.

We take all reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is up-to-date.

Social Media Policy

The Q+ (Queer Plus) Facebook and Instagram pages are here for you to find out more about Q+ and engage with other people interested in LGBTIAQ+ community events and topics connected to Q+. We are also happy to discuss other relevant issues relevant to people living within the LGBTIAQ+ communities without stigma, prejudice, or discrimination.

We want to ensure everyone feels welcome and safe in these social media spaces. We ask that your posts are created in the same respectful manner that you would employ in the offline and broader communities that we live in.

Personal and aggressive attacks on any of these page will be deleted. You are entitled to your opinion, and we respect your point of view, but please remember posts on these pages are Q+ property, and we are responsible for your comments and the potential affect they may have on others.

Please refrain from publishing any content that:

is obscene, offensive, malicious or hostile
contains rude or defamatory remarks about Q+ or others
may incite hatred or be seen as homophobic, racist, sexist, or discriminatory
contains potentially harmful or inappropriate advice

The Q+ team will remove any posts, comments or content that breaches these conditions.

Comments may be removed if deemed offensive, convey inaccurate information, are not relevant to the topic in question, or are used for the purpose of advertising products and services without the permission of Q+.

Comments, which name individual persons, organisations or products, may also be removed for legal reasons.

Fundraising activity on this page is limited to activities or initiatives relating to Q+ or groups that have permission from Q+.

COVID Safety

Being COVIDSafe at Q+ Events

Victorias state-wide response to the ongoing COVID epidemic is continuously evolving. Q+ has made adjustments to it’s programming in accordance with the current Victorian Government COVIDSafe guidance in order to make sure we are doing our part to be COVIDSafe. We want everyone to be able to enjoy Q+ events and whilst ensuring all of our continued safety.

Please follow Victoria's COVIDSafe practices while attending Q+ events.

NOTE: The Q+ Hub activation in Bendigo for Bendigo Pride Festival 2021 is delivered under a COVIDSafe plan. This COVIDSafe plan will be reviewed and updated to align with the changing situation, and attendees should watch Bendigo Pride social channels to be updated with information as it evolves.

What you can keep doing to stay COVIDSafe at Q+ Events:

Practise good hygiene and regularly and thoroughly wash your hands.
Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others.
From 11:59pm 11 October 2020, all Victorians (and visitors) must wear a fitted face mask
when they leave home, no matter where they live, unless you have a lawful reason for not
doing so.
A face mask needs to be worn covering both your nose and mouth.
Download and run the Federal Government’s official COVIDSafe app.
If you feel unwell please do not attend a Q+ Event - get tested at a nearby testing location then return home immediately.

COVID-safe Messages

As we aim to keep attendees safe at Q+ events, please look for COVIDSafe signage and follow directions.

COVIDSafe messages may be delivered before, during and after events via email, social media channels or personnel. Keep an eye out for information and please follow directions to keep yourself and others safe

QR Codes & Record Keeping

Please follow the directions of Q+ COVID safety officers & staff and register for your FREE tickets record keeping via the QR code or registry on arrival to events in public spaces.

Crowd Management, Attendance & Right to Refuse

Q+ Staff have the right to refuse entry or participation in Q+ events entry if compliance is not achieved, and must insist that anyone displaying COVID-19 symptoms does not attend the event.

If you become unwell during an event, locate a Q+ COVID safety officer or Q+ staff member.

Q+ will keep attendees advised on Victoria's COVIDSafe practices while attending Q+ events, and retains the right to refuse entry if compliance is not met.

Bendigo Pride Festivals COVIDsafe Plan

As part of Bendigo Pride Festival, Q+ and Q+ staff adhere to the COVIDSafe plan as set out by Bendigo Pride Festival.
